The Swiss trio 60 Miles does not derive its name nor from a decade admittedly pomp for jazz, nor of a certain silhouette trumpeter iconic (among others). And yet …
Yet it is jazz that 60 Miles offers us. Between other. Because nowadays, is there still a jazz which does not refer what has itself, which feeds only on its own tradition?
60 Miles made the choice to play his own music, nourished as much Charlie Parker, Keith Jarrett or Avishai Cohen than Led Zeppelin, Radiohead or Beethoven. Music formed in crucible of the famous formula of the trio, but without taking usual codes. A music where rhythmic games occupy a prominent place, between fascination with abstraction digital and joyful celebration of ambiguity.
After the release of his first disc “… Ou a raison” on Altri Suoni in 2015, followed in 2018 by “Last Summer”, 60 Miles a played in Switzerland, France, Germany, Poland, China, in Japan, Brazil and Argentina. Currently the trio is preparing his third album.
But then … why 60 Miles? A matter of space, but finally maybe also from time … As another said celebrity (but without a trumpet), “the world is fixed, in equilibrium in a four-dimensional space. “And French-speaking Switzerland is not very big.
