New project for Giovanni Tommaso who despite his long career, from his debut with the Quartet of Lucca, his city, the lucky opportunities to play and record records with the greats of jazz history such as Sonny Rollins, Max Roach, Elvin Jones, John Lewis, Dexter Gordon, to the Perigeo adventure he formed in the 70s with an international success that is unlikely to be equaled (their records have never stopped selling all over the world even today!) And to the various Quintets they have made starts from their debut jazz musicians of the caliber of Massimo Urbani, Paolo Fresu, Danilo Rea, Roberto Gatto and many others, seems to show an inexhaustible creative vein. This time his daughter Jasmine is with him, in a father-daughter dialogue in the name of jazz language. “As time goes by”, “time flies”, “it seems like yesterday”, some of the many phrases that describe the passage of time. Time is inexorable, it cannot be stopped and there is no going back and neither is our life just a fragment. For this reason the memories of our past play a decisive role and are often associated with nostalgia, even if they were bad memories. Someone has the power to remember certain events as if he were reliving them, but certainly one thing is “living memories” and another is “living with memories”. This is why the important thing is to live the present! This “father and daughter” collaboration celebrates the passage of time that magically mixes past and future, in the sense that the present with its planning could also influence its future.
